Monotypes

The painterly qualities that can be achieved in a monotype lend to gestural, expressionistic prints. Although monotypes may be precise and detailed, for Frank it is a place to let color and tone guide the development of the work. Although technically one of a kind, monotypes are often worked in a series; new impressions building on prior, drawing from and compiling delicate layers to yield complex results.
