May 2023 – Art News

Woods, v1, photopolymer etching, 2023

This spring has brought renewed inspiration to my work and has pushed me into new color directions as I channel the powerful and vibrant forces of life in the natural world. Here is an up-date on my exhibition and other news.

Coming up:

    • Please join me on June 2, between 5 and 7 PM for the opening reception of “Impressions by Sally Frank” at the Handwright Gallery and Framing Center, 93 Main Street in New Canaan, CT. The exhibition will include my recent photopolymer etchings as well as woodcuts.  The opening is on the same night as the New Canaan Art in the Windows Downtown Art Stroll, so there will be a lot of art to see in New Canaan that night. I hope to see you there.
    • From May 18 through June 6, one of my pieces will be included in the Greenwich Art Society’s 106th Annual Juried Exhibit 2023 in the Greenwich Art Society Bendheim Gallery, located at 299 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT. The competition was judged by David Max Horowitz, Assistant Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NYC. Award presentations and closing reception will take place on June 15th, between 5:30 and 7:30 PM.
    • Opening on May 18th, the Stamford Art Association juried exhibition, “Black, White and Shades of Gray” will include one of my recent works in their show at The Townhouse Gallery, 39 Franklin Street, Stamford, CT.  The multi-media exhibition was juried by board member and curator Casey Correa and will run through June 22nd.
    • On June 9th, two of my recent works will be included in a juried exhibition at the Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque, NM, “Opposing Forces: Energetic Tension in Printmaking and Photography“. Remarque is an award-winning non-toxic print institution. My pieces are two of 30 prints selected for inclusion in this exciting exhibit. The juror is Karen Hymer of Light Art Space in Silver City, NM.  I will post the link to the virtual exhibit on my website as soon as it is available. The show runs through July 29th.
    • September 2 from 4 to 8 PM, an exhibit of my work will open at the Oak and Oil gallery in Katonah, New York. The Katonah Art Walk will happen the same night so it should be a fun evening. More information to come as we get closer..

Also, I was recently accepted for membership to the Boston Printmakers, an International Association of Artists. The Boston Printmakers is a 76-year old “globally minded organization that promotes public knowledge and understanding of printmaking”. It supports printmaking as both a traditional practice and an interdisciplinary field. It is a great honor to be a member of this prestigious group.
